God is the creator and sustainer of all things, and as such, He is a being of immense power and authority. His attributes are those qualities or characteristics which make Him unique and set Him apart from all other beings. In Christianity, God is seen as a perfect being, possessing infinite knowledge, power and love.
His attributes can be divided into three categories: moral, natural and miraculous.
Moral Attributes
God is often referred to as being holy, just and righteous, meaning He is perfectly good and just in all His actions. He is also said to be loving, merciful, gracious and patient. These qualities are all rooted in His nature as a loving and perfect being. In the Bible, 1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
Natural Attributes
God is also said to be omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful) and omnipresent (present everywhere). This means that God is able to know, do and be everywhere at once. He is also said to be immutable (unchanging) and eternal. In the Bible, Psalm 90:2 says, “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
Miraculous Attributes
In addition to His natural qualities, God is also said to be able to perform miracles. He is said to be able to answer prayers, work wonders and heal the sick. In the Bible, Mark 5:34 says, “He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’”
These attributes of God are all part of what makes Him so unique and special. While we may never fully understand the depths of His power and love, we can take comfort in knowing that He is perfect in every way.
