1 Kings 1:41:1וַיִּשְׁמַ֣עvayishmaand he heard
1 Kings 1:41:2אֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּadoniyahuAdonijah 1 Kings 1:41:3וְכָל־הַקְּרֻאִים֙vekholhakeruimand all the invited ones 1 Kings 1:41:4אֲשֶׁ֣רasherwho 1 Kings 1:41:5אִתּ֔וֹitowith him 1 Kings 1:41:6וְהֵ֖םvehemand they 1 Kings 1:41:7כִּלּ֣וּkiluthey finished 1 Kings 1:41:8לֶאֱכֹ֑לleekholto eat 1 Kings 1:41:9וַיִּשְׁמַ֤עvayishmaand he heard 1 Kings 1:41:10יוֹאָב֙yoavJoab 1 Kings 1:41:11אֶת־ק֣וֹלetkol 1 Kings 1:41:12הַשּׁוֹפָ֔רhashofarthe trumpet 1 Kings 1:41:13וַיֹּ֕אמֶרvayomerand he said 1 Kings 1:41:14מַדּ֥וּעַmadduawhy or for what reason 1 Kings 1:41:15קֽוֹל־הַקִּרְיָ֖הkolhakiryathe sound of the city 1 Kings 1:41:16הוֹמָֽה׃homais in uproar
41. Formal Translation
And Adonijah heard, along with all the guests, who were with him as they finished eating; Joab also heard the sound of the trumpet, and he said, “Why is the city making such commotion?”
41. Dynamic Translation
Adonijah and all his invited guests heard it as they were finishing their meal. Joab heard the trumpet's sound and asked, “What is causing the uproar in the city?”
