Exegesis

The verse is a single extended narrative sentence driven by a chain of wayyiqtol forms: wayyiqqah {וַיִּקַּ֣ח | wayyiqqāḥ} ‘and he took’, wayyitnem {וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖ם | wayyiṯnēm} ‘and he gave them’, and wayyishlahem {וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֞ם | wayyišlāḥēm} ‘and he sent them’.
