| 34. Formal Translation In his days, Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. At the cost of Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and at the cost of Segub his youngest, he set up its gates, according to the word of the LORD {Yahweh, Promise Fulfiller} which He spoke by the hand of Joshua son of Nun. |
| 34. Dynamic Translation During his reign, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundation at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram and set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, just as the LORD {Yahweh, Faithful to His warnings} had spoken through Joshua son of Nun. |
