1 Kings 18:27:2בַֽצָּהֳרַ֜יִםvatsohorayimat the midday 1 Kings 18:27:3וַיְהַתֵּ֧לvayehatteland he mocked 1 Kings 18:27:4בָּהֶ֣םbahemof them 1 Kings 18:27:5אֵלִיָּ֗הוּeliyahuElijah 1 Kings 18:27:6וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vayomerand he said 1 Kings 18:27:7קִרְא֤וּkireucall out 1 Kings 18:27:8בְקוֹל־גָּדוֹל֙bekolgadolwith a loud voice 1 Kings 18:27:9כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִ֣יםkielohimfor God 1 Kings 18:27:10ה֔וּאhuhe is 1 Kings 18:27:11כִּ֣יkifor 1 Kings 18:27:12שִׂ֧יחַsiakhmusing or in thought 1 Kings 18:27:13וְכִֽי־שִׂ֛יגvekhisigand for he has withdrawn 1 Kings 18:27:14ל֖וֹlofor himself 1 Kings 18:27:15וְכִֽי־דֶ֣רֶךְvekhiderekhand for a journey 1 Kings 18:27:16ל֑וֹlois his 1 Kings 18:27:17אוּלַ֛יulaiperhaps 1 Kings 18:27:18יָשֵׁ֥ןyashensleeping 1 Kings 18:27:19ה֖וּאhuhe is 1 Kings 18:27:20וְיִקָֽץ׃veyikatsand must be awakened
27. Formal Translation
And it was at noon, and Elijah mocked them and said, “Call with a loud voice, for he is a god {Elohim, Object of Worship}. For he is meditating, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and will awaken.”
27. Dynamic Translation
At midday Elijah began to mock them, saying, “Shout louder! Surely he is a god {Elohim, Silent Sovereign}. Perhaps he is pondering, or is busy, or is traveling, or perhaps is napping and needs to be awakened.”
