Exegesis

The prohibitive jussive al-yimmalet mehem {אַל־יִמָּלֵ֥ט מֵהֶ֖ם | ʼal-yimmā-lê-ṭ mē-hem} ‘let no man escape from them’ employs al with a Niph‘al imperfect jussive for total exclusion.
