26. Formal Translation Then the woman whose son was alive said to the king, because her compassion was stirred for her son, and she said, “Please, my lord, give her the living child—do not kill him!” But the other said, “Neither for me nor for you shall he be; divide him!” |
26. Dynamic Translation The living boy’s mother said to the king—her heart overflowing with love for her son—“Oh, my lord, let her have the living child; do not kill him!” But the other woman insisted, “He will not belong to either you or me. Cut him in two!” |
