Exegesis

The particle lēʾmōר {לֵאמֹר | lēʾmōר} introduces direct discourse framed as an anthropomorphic dialogue: the thistle hachoach {הַחֹחַ | ha-ḥōḥaḥ} ‘thistle’ and the cedar hā-ʾerez {הָאֶרֶז | hā-ʾerez} ‘cedar’ each modified by relative clauses with ʾăšer {אֲשֶׁר | ʾăšer} ‘which’ and their location in balbanôn {בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן | balbanôn} ‘Lebanon’.
