Exegesis

Ahaz asserts loyalty and kinship through the parallel pair avdekha uvinekha {עַבְדְּךָ וּבִנְךָ | ʿavdɛkha ūvinnɛkha}. The imperatives aleh and vehoshi’eni sequence the requests for ascent and deliverance. The repeated phrase mikaf melekh-aram umikaf melekh yisrael uses parallelism to enumerate threats, and the participle hakomim emphasizes their ongoing rebellion.
