27. Formal Translation Then he took his firstborn son, who was to reign in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering on the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel, and they withdrew from him and returned to their land. |
27. Dynamic Translation So he took his eldest son, the one meant to succeed him as king, and sacrificed him as a burnt offering on top of the city wall. Then great fury came against Israel, and they pulled back and went home. |
