Exegesis

The verse opens with vayomer {וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ | wayyōmer} ‘and he said’, a vav-consecutive verb marking direct speech, followed by Avshalom {אַבְשָׁל֔וֹם | ʾAvšālôm} as the speaker.
