Exegesis

The prohibition follows ve’al tasukhi shemen {וְאַל־תָּסוּכִי שֶׁמֶן | wə-ʾal tā-sūḵî šemen} ‘and do not anoint yourself with oil’ using the negative particle ’al + imperfect.
