| 8. Formal Translation Then the king arose and sat in the gate; and all the people were told, saying, “Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.” So all the people came before the king, but Israel had fled, every man to his tent. |
| 8. Dynamic Translation So the king got up and took his seat at the city gate, and when everyone was told, “Look, the king is sitting at the gate,” they all gathered before him. Meanwhile, the Israelites had scattered, each one returning to his own home. |
