27. Formal Translation And when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the inner part of the gate to speak with him privately. There he struck him in the abdomen, and he died for the blood of Asahel his brother. |
27. Dynamic Translation When Abner arrived back at Hebron, Joab led him into a quiet part of the city gate as though to talk with him alone. There, Joab stabbed him in the side, and Abner died because of the blood of his brother. |
