8. Formal Translation
David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusite and reaches the water shaft, let him strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “A blind person or a lame person shall not enter the house.”
8. Dynamic Translation
David said on that day, “Anyone who attacks the Jebusites must go up through the water shaft to strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” That is why people say, “The blind and the lame do not enter the palace.”
