The participial causal clause onta se kritēn tō ethnei toutō epistamenos {ὄντα σε κριτὴν τῷ ἔθνει τούτῳ ἐπιστάμενος | on-ta se kri-tēn tō eth-nei tou-tō e-pi-sta-me-nos} combines onta {ὄντα | on-ta} and the accusative se kritēn {σε κριτὴν | se kri-tēn} with the dative community {τῷ ἔθνει τούτῳ | tō eth-nei tou-tō} and the nominative participle epistamenos {ἐπιστάμενος | e-pi-sta-me-nos} to express “since I know that you are a judge over this nation.”
