4. Formal Translation
Young men who had no defect in them, of good appearance, skillful in all wisdom, knowing knowledge and understanding learning, and who had strength to stand in the king’s palace, were to be taught the literature and the language of the Chaldeans.
4. Dynamic Translation
They were young men without any physical defect, handsome in appearance, gifted with every kind of wisdom, well-informed, and perceptive in learning. They were qualified to serve in the king’s palace and to be instructed in the writings and language of the Chaldeans.
