Exegesis

Temporal framing comes with veshiv'a iddanin yahlfoun alakh {וְשִׁבְעָה עִדָּנִין יַחְלְפוּן עֲלָךְ | wə-šiḇ-ʿā ʿid-dā-nîn yaḥ-lə-pûn ʿă-lāḵ}, where the numeral plus iddanin “times, periods” specifies a set number of divinely appointed spans, and yahlfoun “will pass” depicts these periods successively rolling over the king.
