16. Formal Translation
Only he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Lawgiver} has said to you, “You shall not return on this way again.”
16. Dynamic Translation
The king must not stockpile horses for himself, nor send the people back to Egypt to obtain more horses, for the LORD {Yahweh, Divine Commander} told you, “You shall not go back by that route again.”
