9. Formal Translation At that time the king’s scribes were summoned on the twenty-third day of the third month, that is Sivan. They recorded all that Mordecai had commanded to the Jews, to the satraps, to the governors, and to the officials of the provinces from India to Cush, 127 in total—addressing each province in its own script and each people in its own language, including the Jews in their own script and language. |
9. Dynamic Translation So the royal scribes were summoned on the twenty-third day of the third month, Sivan. They wrote down all of Mordecai’s orders for the Jews and for the satraps, governors, and officials across 127 provinces from India to Cush. Each province received the decree in its own script and each people in their own language, and the Jews in their own script and language. |
