Exodus 17:1:1וַ֠יִּסְעוּvayisu{And they} set out
Exodus 17:1:2כָּל־עֲדַ֨תkoladatall the congregation of Exodus 17:1:3בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֧לbeneiyisraelthe sons of Israel Exodus 17:1:4מִמִּדְבַּר־סִ֛יןmimidbarsinfrom the wilderness of Sin Exodus 17:1:5לְמַסְעֵיהֶ֖םlemaseihemby their stages Exodus 17:1:6עַל־פִּ֣יalpiaccording to the command of Exodus 17:1:7יְהוָ֑הyahwehLORD Exodus 17:1:8וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙vayakhanu{And} they camped Exodus 17:1:9בִּרְפִידִ֔יםbirfidimat Rephidim Exodus 17:1:10וְאֵ֥יןveeinand there was no Exodus 17:1:11מַ֖יִםmayimwater Exodus 17:1:12לִשְׁתֹּ֥תlishtotto drink Exodus 17:1:13הָעָֽם׃haamfor the people
1. Formal Translation
So the full assembly of Israel’s offspring moved out from the Wilderness of Sin in segments under the LORD’s {Yahweh, Journey Guide} instruction; they encamped at Rephidim, yet water was lacking for the people to drink.
1. Dynamic Translation
All of Israel’s people departed the Wilderness of Sin and, following the LORD’s {Yahweh, Divine Leader} guidance, proceeded from one camp to the next until they reached Rephidim. There the people found no water to drink.
