Exegesis

The directive wəʼāmarṯā {וְאָמַרְתָּ | wəʼāmarṯā} ‘and you shall say’ introduces the report šəmûwāh {שְׁמוּעָה | šəmûwāh} ‘report/news’, qualified by kî bāʼāh {כִּי בָאָה | kî bāʼāh} ‘for it is coming’.

The closing hinnēh bāʼāh wə-nihyətāh {הִנָּה בָאָה וְנִהְיָתָה | hinnēh bāʼāh wə-nihyətāh} ‘look, it is coming and it will come to pass’ precedes the prophetic signature nəʼûm ʼădōnāy YHWH {נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה | nəʼûm ʼădōnāy YHWH} ‘utterance of the Lord GOD’, affirming divine authority and certainty.

In contextEzekiel 21:7

And when they say to you, “Why are you groaning?” you shall answer, “Because of the report, for it is drawing near: every heart will dissolve, all hands will hang limp; every spirit will sink, and all knees will flow down like water. Look, it is coming, and it will surely take place,” declares the Lord GOD .
