23. Formal Translation When the copy of King Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe with their associates, they went quickly to Jerusalem against the Jews and forced the Jews to cease work by strength. |
23. Dynamic Translation As soon as the official copy of King Artaxerxes’ letter was read to Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their associates, they rushed to Jerusalem and compelled the Jews to stop work, using force and strength. |
