Exegesis
The divine response, again introduced by vayomer {וַיֹּאמֶר | way-yō-mer}, answers Abraham’s proposal directly: lo ashkhit {לֹא אַשְׁחִית | lōʾ ʾaš-ḥît} “I will not destroy” uses a Hiphil imperfect with explicit first person, forming a strong promissory statement.
