Haggai 2:12:1הֵ֣ןhenbehold or if
Haggai 2:12:2יִשָּׂא־אִ֨ישׁyissaishhe carries, a man Haggai 2:12:3בְּשַׂר־קֹ֜דֶשׁbesarkodeshflesh of holiness, holy flesh Haggai 2:12:4בִּכְנַ֣ףbikhnafin the fold or corner Haggai 2:12:5בִּגְד֗וֹbigdoof his garment Haggai 2:12:6וְנָגַ֣עvenagaand touches Haggai 2:12:7בִּ֠כְנָפוֹbikhnafowith his fold or corner Haggai 2:12:8אֶל־הַלֶּ֨חֶםelhalekhemto the bread Haggai 2:12:9וְאֶל־הַנָּזִ֜ידveelhanazidand to the stew Haggai 2:12:10וְאֶל־הַיַּ֧יִןveelhayayinand to the wine Haggai 2:12:11וְאֶל־שֶׁ֛מֶןveelshemenand to oil Haggai 2:12:12וְאֶל־כָּל־מַאֲכָ֖לveelkalmaakhaland to any food Haggai 2:12:13הֲיִקְדָּ֑שׁhayikdashwill it become holy Haggai 2:12:14וַיַּעֲנ֧וּvayaanuand they answered Haggai 2:12:15הַכֹּהֲנִ֛יםhakohanimthe priests Haggai 2:12:16וַיֹּאמְר֖וּvayomeruand said Haggai 2:12:17לֹֽא׃lono
12. Formal Translation
If a man carries holy flesh in the fold of his garment and with that fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy? And the priests answered, “No.”
12. Dynamic Translation
Suppose someone carries sacred meat in the corner of his clothing, and that corner touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any kind of food—does it become holy? And the priests replied, “No.”
