Two parallel covenant statements vehayu li le-am {וְהָיוּ־לִ֣י לְעָ֔ם | wə-hā-yû-lī lə-ʿām} ‘they shall be My people’ and ve-anokhi ehyeh lahem le-elohim {וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם לֵאלֹהִ֑ים | wə-ʾā-nō-ḵî ʾeh-yeh lā-hem lē-ʾĕ-lō-hîm} ‘I will be their God’ underscore reciprocal covenant relationship.
