1. Formal Translation And it happened, when Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, heard that Joshua had captured Ai and had put it under the ban, just as he had done to Jericho and to its king, so he did to Ai and to its king, and that the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were in their midst. |

Dynamic Translation It happened that, when Adoni-Zedek, the king of Jerusalem, heard that Joshua had taken Ai and had set it apart for destruction, just as he had done to Jericho and its king, he did the same to Ai and its king; and that the people of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living among them. |
