8. Formal Translation And the sons of Israel did so, as Joshua commanded: they carried twelve stones from the midst of the Jordan, as the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant-Fulfiller} had spoken to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel; and they brought them to the lodging place and set them down there. |
8. Dynamic Translation So the Israelites did exactly as Joshua told them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan River, just as the LORD {Yahweh, Promise-Keeper} had told Joshua, matching the number of Israel’s tribes. Then they carried them into their camp and laid them down there. |
