29. Formal Translation The king of Ai was hanged on a tree until evening, and at sunset Joshua commanded that they take his body down from the tree, cast it at the entrance of the city gate, and set up over it a large heap of stones until this day. |
29. Dynamic Translation Joshua hanged the king of Ai on a tree and left him there until evening. When the sun went down, Joshua gave orders to take the king’s body from the tree, throw it at the city gate entrance, and pile a big heap of stones over it, which remains to this day. |
