18. Formal Translation Is it not thus that your fathers acted, and our God {Eloheinu, Just Judge} brought all this calamity upon us and upon this city? Yet you are adding wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath. |
18. Dynamic Translation Was it not this way that your ancestors acted, so our God {Eloheinu, Righteous Disciplinarian} brought all this trouble on us and this city? And now you are making Israel even more liable to wrath by violating the Sabbath. |
