19. Formal Translation But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite attendant, and Geshem the Arab heard, they jeered at us and treated us with contempt, and they said, “What is this undertaking you are doing? Are you rising in rebellion against the king?” |
19. Dynamic Translation When Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they ridiculed us and looked down on us. They said, “What are you doing here? Are you trying to rebel against the king?” |
