Traditional views of heaven

What is Heaven?

Heaven is a place of eternal bliss and joy, where God dwells and where the souls of the righteous go after death. It is a place of perfect peace and harmony, where all of God’s promises are fulfilled. In Christianity, Heaven is often referred to as the Kingdom of Heaven or the New Jerusalem.

The Bible and Traditional Views of Heaven

The Bible is filled with references to Heaven, and it is clear that it is a place of great joy and beauty. In the book of Revelation, John describes Heaven as a place of “a great multitude, which no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands” (Revelation 7:9).

The Bible also speaks of Heaven as a place of perfect peace and joy, where there is no more sorrow or pain. In Isaiah 65:17, it says, “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.” This is a beautiful picture of the perfect peace and joy that will be found in Heaven.

The Bible also speaks of Heaven as a place of perfect justice and righteousness. In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus speaks of the judgment of the nations, and how those who have done good will be rewarded with eternal life in Heaven. This is a reminder that Heaven is a place of perfect justice, where all wrongs will be righted and all good deeds will be rewarded.

The Bible also speaks of Heaven as a place of perfect love. In 1 Corinthians 13:13, it says, “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” This is a reminder that Heaven is a place of perfect love, where all will be united in perfect harmony and peace.

Heaven is also a place of perfect worship. In Revelation 4:11, it says, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” This is a reminder that Heaven is a place of perfect worship, where all will be united in praising and glorifying God.

Finally, Heaven is a place of perfect rest. In Revelation 14:13, it says, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Blessed indeed,’ says the Spirit, ‘that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!’” This is a reminder that Heaven is a place of perfect rest, where all will be free from the toils and troubles of this life.
