Exegesis

The particle hos {ὡς | hōs} introduces a clause of manner or comparison: hos en pasais tais ekklesiais ton hagion {ὡς ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῶν ἁγίων | hōs en pásais tais ekklēsíais tôn hagíōn} extends the principle beyond Corinth so that the character of God as God of peace must be reflected in every congregation of the holy ones. In translation, “For” is placed at the beginning to mark the causal link, the genitives “of disorder” and “of peace” are preserved to retain their qualitative nuance, and the prepositional phrase “in all the churches of the saints” is kept intact to stress that this standard applies to all Christian assemblies.
