A second hoti {ὅτι | hó-ti} introduces anastasis nekrōn ouk estin {ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἔστιν | a-nás-ta-sis ne-krôn ouk é-stin}, “there is no resurrection of the dead,” where anastasis is fronted for emphasis and ouk precedes estin to sharpen denial. This construction preserves Paul’s argumentative force by juxtaposing the proclamation of Christ’s resurrection with the denial of a general resurrection.
