6. Formal Translation This is the One who came through water and blood, Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Atoning Son}; not in the water only, but in the water and in the blood. And the Spirit {pneuma, Faithful Witness} is the One who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. |
6. Dynamic Translation Jesus Christ {Iesous Christos, Chosen Savior} came by both water and blood; He did not come by water alone but by water accompanied by blood. The Spirit {pneuma, Truth-Bearing Witness} also testifies, because the Spirit is truth itself. |
