Exegesis

The relative clause ba-ir asher hanavi hazaken yoshev bah {בָעִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֛ר הַנָּבִיא֙ הַזָּקֵ֖ן יֹשֵׁ֥ב בָּֽהּ | ba-ʾîr ʼă-šer han-nā-vî ha-zā-qēn yō-šēḇ bāh} ‘in the city where the old prophet dwells’ anchors the report’s location. Conjunctive “and” sequences were streamlined into past tense for English readability without losing the original’s sequential flow.
