   and it happened when {he} heard Ahijah {the} sound of her feet {as} she came in the doorway or at the entrance and he said come {feminine singular} wife of Jeroboam why this you {feminine singular} are disguising yourself or making yourself unrecognizable and I sent to you {feminine singular} hard or severe

The verse opens with vayhi {וַיְהִי֩ | wayyəhî} ‘and it happened,’ a vav-consecutive Qal imperfect marking a narrative transition.
