The construct chain el-petach ha’ir {אֶל־פֶּתַח הָעִיר | ʾel-pē-ṭaḥ hā-ʿîr} ‘to the entrance of the city’ sets the scene, while vehinne-sham {וְהִנֵּה־שָׁם | wə-hinnê-šām} ‘and behold there’ introduces the widow’s activity.
