22. Formal Translation King Solomon answered his mother: “Why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? You might as well ask for him the kingdom, for he is my elder brother, and on his side are Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah.” |
22. Dynamic Translation Then King Solomon replied to his mother, “Why are you requesting Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? You may as well request the kingdom for him—for he is my elder brother—and Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah are backing him.” |
