5. Formal Translation And you also know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to the two commanders of the armies of Israel, to Abner son of Ner and to Amasa son of Jether—how he killed them, taking revenge in a time of peace for blood shed in war, and placed the blood of war on his belt that was around his loins and on his sandals that were on his feet. |
5. Dynamic Translation You too know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to the two army leaders of Israel, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He murdered them as revenge in peacetime for wartime blood, staining the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet. |
