Exegesis

The sequence continues through vayamat {וַיָּמָת | way·yā·māṯ} ‘and he died,’ leading to vayitseq {וַיִּצֶק | way·yi·ṣeq} ‘and he poured’ combined with dam hammakkah {דַּם הַמַּכָּה | dam ham·maḵ·kāh} ‘the blood of the wound,’ and concludes with elcheik harekhev {אֶל־חֵיק הָרֶכֶב | ’el·ḥêq hā·re·ḵeb} ‘into the lap of the chariot.’ The preserved clause order and construct chain intensify the depiction of blood pooling at the king’s seat.
