Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) 1 Kings 8:39:1 ⧉וְ֠אַתָּהveataand you 1 Kings 8:39:2 ⧉תִּשְׁמַ֨עtishmayou will hear 1 Kings 8:39:3 ⧉הַשָּׁמַ֜יִםhashamayimthe heavens 1 Kings 8:39:4 ⧉מְכ֤וֹןmekhonplace or fixed place 1 Kings 8:39:5 ⧉שִׁבְתֶּ֙ךָ֙shivtekhayour dwelling 1 Kings 8:39:6 ⧉וְסָלַחְתָּ֣vesalakhtaand you will forgive 1 Kings 8:39:7 ⧉וְעָשִׂ֔יתָveasitaand you will do 1 Kings 8:39:8 ⧉וְנָתַתָּ֤venatattaand you will give 1 Kings 8:39:9 ⧉לָאִישׁ֙laishto the man or to the person 1 Kings 8:39:10 ⧉כְּכָל־דְּרָכָ֔יוkekholderakhavaccording to all his ways 1 Kings 8:39:11 ⧉אֲשֶׁ֥רasherwhich or that 1 Kings 8:39:12 ⧉תֵּדַ֖עtedayou know 1 Kings 8:39:13 ⧉אֶת־לְבָב֑וֹetlevavothe heart of him 1 Kings 8:39:14 ⧉כִּֽי־אַתָּ֤הkiatafor you 1 Kings 8:39:15 ⧉יָדַ֙עְתָּ֙yadattayou have known 1 Kings 8:39:16 ⧉לְבַדְּךָ֔levaddekhaby yourself 1 Kings 8:39:17 ⧉אֶת־לְבַ֖בetlevavthe heart of 1 Kings 8:39:18 ⧉כָּל־בְּנֵ֥יkholbeneall the sons of 1 Kings 8:39:19 ⧉הָאָדָֽם׃haadamthe human or mankind |
39. Formal Translation Then You {Elohim, Omniscient Judge} hear from the heavens, the place of Your dwelling, forgive and act, and give to each person according to all his ways, since You know his heart; for You alone know the heart of all the children of mankind. |
39. Dynamic Translation Then You {Elohim, Responsive Hearer}, from heaven where You dwell, will listen, forgive, and act; give each person what fits their ways, because You know every heart—You alone truly know what is inside every human being. |
