Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) 1 Kings 8:47:1 ⧉וְהֵשִׁ֙יבוּ֙veheshivuand they bring back 1 Kings 8:47:2 ⧉אֶל־לִבָּ֔םellibbamto their heart 1 Kings 8:47:3 ⧉בָּאָ֖רֶץbaaretsin the land 1 Kings 8:47:4 ⧉אֲשֶׁ֣רasherwhich 1 Kings 8:47:5 ⧉נִשְׁבּוּ־שָׁ֑םnishbevushamthey were taken captive there 1 Kings 8:47:6 ⧉וְשָׁ֣בוּveshavuand they return 1 Kings 8:47:7 ⧉וְהִֽתְחַנְּנ֣וּvehitkhannenuand they plead for favor 1 Kings 8:47:8 ⧉אֵלֶ֗יךָelekhato you 1 Kings 8:47:9 ⧉בְּאֶ֤רֶץbeeretsin the land of 1 Kings 8:47:10 ⧉שֹֽׁבֵיהֶם֙shovehemtheir captors 1 Kings 8:47:11 ⧉לֵאמֹ֔רlemorsaying 1 Kings 8:47:12 ⧉חָטָ֥אנוּkhatanuwe have sinned 1 Kings 8:47:13 ⧉וְהֶעֱוִ֖ינוּvehevinuand we have done wrong 1 Kings 8:47:14 ⧉רָשָֽׁעְנוּ׃rashanuwe have acted wickedly |
47. Formal Translation If they restore their hearts in the land where they were taken captive and return and make supplication to You {Elohim, Compassionate Sustainer} in the land of their captors, declaring, “We have sinned; we have acted perversely; we have committed iniquity.” |
47. Dynamic Translation If, while in the land where they are held captive, they awaken to their error and appeal to You {Elohim, Prayer Receiver} in the land of those holding them captive, saying, “We have sinned, we have done wrong, and we have acted wickedly.” |
