Exegesis

Two parallel prepositional phrases ve-neged ziqnei ‘ammi {וְנֶגֶד זִקְנֵי־עַמִּי | wə-negeḏ ziqnê-‘ammî} and ve-neged yisra’el {וְנֶ֣גֶד יִשְׂרָאֵל | wə-negeḏ yisrā’ēl} establish both communal and national audiences.
