1. Formal Translation Now the boy Samuel was serving the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Speaker} before Eli. In those days, the word of the LORD was rare; there was no widespread vision. |
1. Dynamic Translation Samuel, still young, served the LORD {Yahweh, Divine Communicator} under Eli. At that time, messages from the LORD were seldom heard, and people did not often receive visions. |
