The verse uses vav consecutive constructions for sequential narrative actions, as in vayotsi’u {וַיּוֹצִ֣יאוּ | va-yyō-ṣî-’ū} “and they brought out,” vayyitnu {וַיִּתְּנוּ | va-yyit-nû} “and they placed,” and vayyamliku {וַיַּמְלִיכוּ | va-yyam-lî-ḵû} “and they made king.”
