   and it happened as he was speaking to him and he said to him as a counselor for the king have they appointed you stop for yourself why should they strike you so he stopped the prophet and he said I know that he has determined God to destroy you because you have done this and not you listened to my counsel

The concluding clause ki-asita zot velo shamata la‘atsati {כִּֽי־עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּ֔את וְלֹ֥א שָׁמַ֖עְתָּ לַעֲצָתִֽי | kî·‘ā·śî·tā zōṯ wə·lō šā·ma·tā la·‘ă·ṣā·ṯî} ‘because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel’ links divine judgment to the king’s refusal.
