Formal Translation Yet he refrained from putting their sons to death, because it is written in the Law in the Book of Moses that the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Legislator} commanded: “Fathers shall not die for their children, and children shall not die for their fathers; each one shall die for his own sin.” |
| 4. Dynamic Translation He did not execute their children, since the Law in the Book of Moses, which the LORD {Yahweh, Just Commander} ordered, states: “Parents must not die for their children, and children must not die for their parents; instead, each person will die for his own wrongdoing.” |
