1 And when all this was completed, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke the stone pillars {matzevot: commemorative stones}, cut down the Asherah poles, and demolished the high places and the altars throughout Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh until it was finished. Then all the sons of Israel returned each man to his possession {achuzzah: ancestral inheritance} in their cities.
2 Hezekiah appointed the divisions {machlekot: organized temple rotations} of the priests and the Levites on their courses, each man according to his service, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise at the gates of the camps of the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}.
3 And the portion of the king from his own possessions {rekhush: personal property} was for the burnt offerings—the offerings in the morning and in the evening, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, for the new moons, and for the appointed times—as it is written in the Law of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Lawgiver}.
4 And he said to the people, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to give the portion to the priests and the Levites so that they might be steadfast in the instruction {torah: divine teaching} of the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Instructor}.
5 And as the word {davar: official order} spread, the children of Israel brought abundant firstfruits {reshit: initial offering} of grain, new wine, oil, and honey, and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in the tithe of everything.
6 And the children of Israel and of Judah who dwelt in the cities of Judah also brought the tithe {ma’aser: tenth portion} of cattle and sheep and of holy things consecrated to the LORD their God {YHWH Eloheihem, Worthy Recipient}; and they placed them in heaps.
7 In the third month they began stacking the heaps {aremot: designated piles}, and in the seventh month they finished {kilu: completed fully}.
8 And Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps {ha’aremot: grain contributions}, and they blessed the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Keeper} and His people Israel.
9 And Hezekiah {Yechizkiyahu: Faithful King} inquired about the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps {areymot: gathered offerings}.
10 And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok said to him, “Since the offering {terumah: set-apart tribute} began to be brought to the house of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Provider}, there has been eating and satisfaction, and there is abundance left over; for the LORD has blessed His people, and what remains is this great store.”
11 And Hezekiah said to prepare storerooms {shakhot: storage rooms for offerings} in the house of the LORD {YHWH, Temple Guardian}, and they prepared them.
12 And they brought the contribution {terumah: lifted offering}, the tithe, and the holy things with faithfulness; and over them Konaniah the Levite was appointed overseer {nagid: chief guardian}, and Shimei his brother was second.
13 And Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were officials under the authority of Konaniah and his brother Shimei, appointed by King Hezekiah {Yechizkiyahu: Yah Strengthens} and Azariah, the chief officer of the house of God {Elohim: Temple Steward}.
14 And Kore son of Imnah, the Levite, the gatekeeper {shoer: temple porter} at the east, was over the freewill offerings for God {haelohim: Supreme Authority} to distribute the contribution of the LORD {YHWH: Consecrated Recipient} and the most holy things.
15 And at his hand were Eden, Minyamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shekaniah in the cities of the priests, in faithfulness {emunah: steadfast integrity} to give to their brothers in their divisions {machlekot: appointed courses}, as much to the great as to the small.
16 Except those registered {hityachsam: official enrollment} by genealogy for males from three years and upward, everyone who came to the house of the LORD {YHWH, Temple Sovereign} for the daily service received a daily portion for their work according to their divisions.
17 And the registration {hityahes: official enrollment} of the priests by their fathers’ house, and of the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges {mishmeroteihem: duty shifts}, in their divisions.
18 And to register genealogically {lehityaḥēš: official lineage record} all their little ones, their wives, their sons, and their daughters for the entire congregation, for in their faithfulness they consecrated themselves as holy {kodesh: set apart}.
19 And to the sons of Aaron {Aharon: ancestral priest}, the priests in the fields of open land of their cities, in every city and town, there were men who were designated by name to give portions {manot: assigned shares} to every male among the priests and to all who were registered among the Levites.
20 So Hezekiah carried out these things throughout all Judah, and he acted in what was good {tov: beneficial or virtuous} and straight and true before the LORD his God {YHWH Elohav, Covenant-Keeping Guide}.
21 In every task he undertook in the service of the house of God {haElohim, Divine Sustainer}—in the law {torah: divine instruction} and in the commandments, as he sought his God—he carried it through with all his heart, and he prospered.
