7. Formal Translation
And because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, therefore, in order that I might not be exalted above measure, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, in order that he might buffet me, so that I should not be exalted.
7. Dynamic Translation
So, to keep me from becoming arrogant because of the extraordinary revelations, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan, to harass me, so that I would not become too proud.
